⏩Fast Forward Aotearoa #4: Geopolitical power shifts
21st Century Risk: a whole new board game
…Continuing to look at challenges and opportunities facing Aotearoa in 2022…this week, I start to take a look at the flexing global geopolitics that is creating so much uncertainty around the world right now. Particularly poignant in light of the US Supreme Court’s decision to strike Roe vs. Wade on Friday, raising the risk of key states seceding and increasing the risk of domestic civil instability at a time of heightened international tensions.
For Aotearoa, balanced precariously on a globalisation tightrope between the US and Australia as its “Five Eyes” national security partners and China as its largest export market, the stakes are very high now to be able to navigate through increasingly choppy waters of the 2020s and into what looks like a new world order of the 2030s.
Welcome to the latest instalment of my forthcoming book, ⏩Fast Forward Aotearoa.
